Mental Health
Sep. 07, 2021
I met Gena Richardson through Rotary youth exchange. She is a licenensed psychotherapist and is active in Rotary promoting mental health awareness through their "Don't bottle it up" campaign. She has actively participated in many beauty pageants and holds several titles. She has found that these pageants off her a platform that further her cause while allowing her to be a mentor for goodness to younger future leaders. Gena has a "glow" about her. While she has striking beauty - the more you get to know her the more you realize her true gift is what's on the inside and her drive for making the world a better place is the gift she gives to her peers. Gena is a southern girl - she will mesmerize you with her southern accent. She is fun to be around and you will appreciate her humorous wit.

Using SCUBA for Rehabilitation Real Stories
Nov. 02, 2021
https://www.diveheart.org/ This will be a very intereting program. Even though I have been certified to dive since I was 20, I never imagined the SCUBA therapy could be so beneficial to those with disabilities. People with disabilities have been proving for years that very few activities are off-limits. And whether or not an individual has a disability, many activities can offer physical, psychological and emotional benefits. Scuba diving, research has shown, offers special benefits for veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder and spinal cord injuries, as well as benefits for individuals with autism and other disabilities. Hear real life stories at this Newton Rotary Club meeting. As a preamble to the meeting, I have posted the website for this not-for-profit organization in this post. I met Jim Elliott in Houston last month at the Rotary Zone meeting. This is another example of how a Rotarian is using Rotary to change the world one life at a time. Rod Kreie |
