Human Trafficking - a world perspective

Karin F***** is a long-time member of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Lawrence, KS, who served for many years as worship leader, member of the praise team, coordinator of their Family Promise program rotation, and in various other capacities as needed. She worked at Lawrence Memorial Hospital for 23 years as an Emergency nurse, and later developed their Patient Advocacy program and served as Patient Advocate for 4 years, before moving to Nepal in 2014. In Nepal, she is the head of her organization’s Women at Risk Initiative, and fights human trafficking through awareness education and empowerment programming aimed at strengthening education and income opportunities for girls, women, and the most vulnerable in society.

Current programs include an ongoing scholarship program for 75 at-risk village children in 2 villages, a women’s group who earn income making washable, reusable, eco-friendly sanitary pad kits for free distribution to girls in the village schools, a “Basics of Business” course that is helping women in the village start small businesses of their own, and more. Her mission is to create a safe Nepal, where people can live lives free of human trafficking, and other forms of marginalization and exploitation. She also has a passion for sharing the light and love of Jesus to those around her, through her life and work.
