Sarah Coffman, Founder and Executive Director of Wichita Animal Action League told the Newton Rotarians about their innovative rescue/organization and how they’re working to end euthanasia in and around Wichita. WAAL was founded in 2013 and has had great success in past years with their young and vibrant group of volunteers who formed and operate WAAL. In 2016, WAAL cared for 142 owner surrendered dogs and an additional 244 from death row, mainly from the Kansas Humane Society. WAAL had 371 adoptions in 2016 and funded free spay and neuter for 275 cats and dogs for low income families.
