 The Rotary Club of Newton heard about the causes of lower back pain from Dr. Jennifer Koontz of Newton Medical Center.  Dr. Koontz is fellowship trained in sports medicine and board certified in family medicine. She provides a variety of diagnostic and surgical procedures related to sports and family medicine. She is a native of Hutchinson, and a graduate of Bethel College in Newton, where she was a student athlete and athletic trainer. Dr. Koontz earned her master’s of public health from the University of Kansas and her M.D. from the KU School of Medicine. She completed the Via Christi Family Medicine Residency Program in Wichita, including serving as chief resident from 2007-2008. She became board-certified in family medicine in 2008 and completed a sports medicine fellowship at Via Christi following.

Dr. Koontz is involved in many area service activities and has sports medicine experience with the U.S. Senior Open PGA Championship, Wichita City League high school football, Wichita State University baseball, basketball and volleyball, Newman University basketball and soccer, and professional sports teams Wichita Wranglers Baseball, Wichita Wingnuts Baseball and Wichita Thunder Hockey.

Dr. Koontz is involved in many area service activities and has sports medicine experience with the U.S. Senior Open PGA Championship, Wichita City League high school football, Wichita State University baseball, basketball and volleyball, Newman University basketball and soccer, and professional sports teams Wichita Wranglers Baseball, Wichita Wingnuts Baseball and Wichita Thunder Hockey.
